Mr. Angelo da Silva received a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the Federal University of Alagoas in 1998, a master’s degree from the Graduate School of Economics of the Getulio Vargas Foundation in 2001, and a PhD in Economics from the University of Brasília in 2009. He also studied the regulation of games and lotteries in the University of Nevada.
Mr. Angelo da Silva is a career researcher of the Institute of Applied Economic Research (IPEA), having previously served in several lead positions in the public service, including:
– Secretary of Fiscal Monitoring, Energy, and Lottery (SEFEL, 2018); SEFEL’s Deputy Secretary for Fiscal Governance and Lottery Regulation (SEFEL, 2016-2018); General Coordinator of Fiscal Policy of the Secretariat of Economic Policy of the Ministry of Finance (SPE, 2003- 2004; 2007-2008) and
– Secretary of Strategic Projects in the government of Maceió (2013-2016).
He is an expert in public finance, with several works published in newspapers, magazines, specialized journals, seminars and book chapters. Received the first prize in both UN ECLAC’s 2007 Fiscal Policy Contest and the 2008 Public Finance Contest organized by Brazil’s Budget Department.
