Key Summit Takeaways Include:

  • The Government in Brazil is liberalizing the energy markets, moving from vertically integrated models to a more competitive market space, which will naturally provide lots of opportunities for new market entrants.
  • Pre-salt development makes up for a large part of the anticipated growth, and there will be significant international investment into the pre-salt field developments for both oil and associated gas.
  • The USLNG export drive was highlighted as an important new development with several new LNG trains starting up over the next couple of years. There is an expected 100MTpa of new capacity (globally) scheduled to start up before 2025 (several projects expected to take FID before 2020).
  • Demand growth for the Americas region shows some modest growth, of around 10MTpa by 2025, much of the aforementioned new supply coming on stream will be absorbed by Asian markets.
  • Technology is set to play an even bigger part in our industry moving forward:
    • Greater efficiency and productivity in the upstream
    • Wells being brought on faster, producing over plan and at lower cost
    • Greater standardization in trading
    • IT technology to generate analytical tools for trading

The Summit returns next year for its 2nd edition on 26 – 28 May 2020. Get in touch with our team to discuss your company’s tailored participation.
